Sky, the Italian digital Pay TV platform, started operations on July 31, 2003. It was born out of a simple idea: offering to  the Italian viewers the best national and international TV contents. As of December 2007, the number of Sky Italia subscribers was 4.43 million, with an increase in subscriptions of over 2.3 million families since its launch on the Italian market.
